SACRIFICES IN THE NAME OF BEAUTY

143.78 CAD for only 2 SMALL jars of cream... *pains of a woman...
!Its the most front 2 jars - Hydra zen night cream n stupid eye cream!

Anyway, they soothen the pain of this exorbitant price by giving me a whole bunch of goodies.. - the tini perfume, the 3 tini creams u see at the back - 1 Vit C for body cream, 1 vit C serum for face & 1 day cream. In addition, 1 lip stick, 1 lip gloss and 1 mascara. (BTW, i was weary of the color initially; its abit dark purple; - but they look GORGEOUS on me.. very elegant....) The parfum is nice too, but i dont use that much of parfum anyway.... OHOHOH! and the bag! The color contrast n the material gave a very nice classical look to it, so i am sure i will use the bag. YOU KNOW, this is the 1st set of 'free' gifts that i think i WILL use....
*THANKS dad... hope the hole in your pocket arent too big... *

to my dearest sis

hihi darling,
i hope u read my blog sometime soon. just want to tell u to stay strong, do all the preparation you can for the exam and finally when the exam comes, have FAITH in yourself.
Trust yourself that you have done ALL you can to prepare well (so u must really study hard first), and that the exam will reflect well on how much you have done.
Dont stress, cause that never does you good but makes u nervous and pron to more errors.
Give each question a limited duration of time, so that you will not miss out the chance of reading other questions. Dont fret when this little time frame is up. Move on to the next new question first. You can always come back later for pondering.
ALSO, sleep enough so that you have a clear mind always.
LASTLY, your sister is here, giving you all the support she can.. (even if it is far) and i am sure iman will send you his best wishes too.

almost bed time. As usual, i am totally up to my neck (and above) with work and tons to study. You know, i technically have VERY LITTLE classes, as compared to undergraduate course. HOWEVER, i have so much more work to do!! attached is my weekly schedule ( just sharing abit) Looks reasonable right?

my fixed weekly schedule...

HOWEVER, this is what is mandatory - the rest is up to you. To be frank, french is KILLING me. 6 hrs a week...it is too heavy, it goes too much and it is always in th eevening, where i am already tired from a day's work. In addition, that french teacher gives homework... *_*

During those EMPTY sections of my time, i am either stuck in the lab OR the library. For each class, i have a term paper to write.. not to mention exams. One of them, i have occasional assignments. the term papers are really hard to come up with, and i am complaining now cause i have been researchin about a week and i cant find something good to write on... *ARGH. The lectureres are OSOOO vague on what they what!!!!! *SNIFF

I dont want to be stuck with 3 papers in the final month....

a ULTRA BUSY & tiring day.. unwind...

zzzzzz... was up since 10 am in the lab, helping out with the monthly lab clean-up. IT TOOK A BLOODY 4 hours! At 2, my supervisor - Dr Prakash, treated us to lunch (PIZZA..) .. i had to rush for a class which started at 230pm.. then at 4pm i had to run to another class which was like a 15min walk away -UPHILL! *sniff. at 6pm, i recieved a call from the lab that my phD student is here, and i had to run back to the lab, so that she can instruct me on stuff to do.. *

After she left, i had to figure out the dates n times i will do what she wants me to complete and submit an animal online theory test - a neccessary procedure to obtain a certificate to work with animals.. YES! i will be force feeding rats, n withdrawing blood from them!! *SNIFF... poor rats. You know, i went to help a friend force feed HAMSTERS! they look exactly like the ones we keep!!! *ARGH.. poor them.
I finally retreated home at 8 pm, STARVING... just ate and felt like whining... *WHINE!!!!!!! Am gona log down the lab stuff i have done today.. and the procedure.. then i am gona that a nice relaxing FOAM bathe... *I DESERVE IT.....
adios..

friday night, ready for party?

so much for partying. my mood has been dampened considerably due to the consistent rain, and the wetness. STill debating whether i should brave the rain or stay at home. frankly speaking, i do feel like staying at home to chill, at the same time, i feel like, MAN, it is FRIDAY, go out n chill! *grumble. Anyhow, they both will be starting in about an hours time...

Tomoro will be my first tennis lesson (intermediate), taught by the mcgill atheletics.. quite excited actually. time to move my fats abit.

btw, did i every grumble to you guys that in biomed eng, its like 99% guys!??!?!! I feel so stressed everyday when i go to school due to this HUGE imbalance of sex. I kinda feel stressed talking to the guys (shy i think) and i wish there are a couple of girls to talk to!! *GRUMBLE. In my faculty, i think my intake is only 4 masters student..(as far as i know) Unfortunately, the girl's lab is like about 1/2 km away from mine, so it is a hassle. But, i think we are starting off quite well.. (whew) However, we only have one class together... *hrmp. the rest are always with guys... The other 2 guys are ok.. one is too childish, the other is just DENSE. *sigh....
one more thing, yesterday, i took my frozen bread dough out of the fridge to defrost.. DUE TO MY IMPATIENCE, i kinda didnt leave it long enough to defrost and puff up to the right shape b4 i sent it to my oven.. *WHINE> it is a HUGE failure bread.. SO HARD! *(%&^*$%&$) i have no energy to make another loaf now... need to buy one..

grumbles of the day...

almost asleep

Am trying to study the basic principles of artificial cell process, functions and future outlooks.. man.. this guy, thomas chang (in mcgill) is apparently a bigshot in the medical department. He practically invented a new area of drug delivery system... *hrm.

it is quite interesting actually, the stuff he teaches.. (kinda) For those who are too free and is curious about this particular topic i am studying, check his site out. Apparently, the exam will be focused on 2 books found on his website. (HE WROTE IT) You guys can download it if u want... http://www.medicine.mcgill.ca/artcell/ It is under BOOKS FOR FREE ONLINE ACCESS "" .

you know, if he bothered to make his website abit nicer, he would have looked much more professional. On the contrary, his powerpt slides were very skillfully done, complete with aminations and sound.. *strange. MAYBE someone further improved upon his work.... (highly probable..)

gota finish reading part of the book.. else i wouldnt know what to write as notes for his lecture today. FOR INFORMATION, most of the lecturers here are mean, and dont offer to give us their powerpt slides... = WE RELY ON OUR NOTES FOR EXAMS.. *

thought-sharing

I was talking to a friend online today. As usual, the topics revolved around 'how are you', 'waz up' etc. As predicted, being girls, the guys topic comes up. She was asking me the quality of guys here. Man, all i can say is that the guys here are definitely hotter then the guys back in singapore. I think it is not the race nor looks that montreal reigns. it is the aura that the majority of guys here carry. (of course there are exceptions around always) Something about them just tells us we are confident, look at us. *hrm... Did i hit some spot?

Anyway, she started asking me about my darling here, watz up etc. OF course, being MOI, i joked alot and said things like the grass is always greener, a bf is only a bf kinda stuff. *NO OFFENCE IMAN>> READ ON. Anyway, she took it for real and asked me SERIOUSLY if i am fooling around behind or infront of iman. OF COURSE NOT. I told her frankly that iman is the sweetest, lovable & cutest (well.. almost ) guy on earth, and we spend the most memoriable times and have the most fun moments together always. Of course i would love to feel that initial anticipation, the crushes again, the many fishes in the sea theory, --- but you know, i wouldnt give what i have recieved from iman for the world. *ok, getting too mushy i am sure.
THE BOTTOM LINE IS, i may say alot of stuff, i am just 99.9% joking. that 0.1% seriousness is like.. erm.. negligible. I know what i should treasure.
FINALLY, a special kiss for the special guy who has made my life much more beautiful.
For those who dont know who he is.. TA-DA! a picture for u! *HEE

nice monday

Mondays should be my fave days. i have totally NO CLASSES except 6-8 pm, french classes. You know, french is a PAIN in the ass. The pronouncation and spellings never correspond, that means i have to MEMORISE speaking and writing in separate compartments of my already crammed brain. YUCK. So far, i have been learning GRAMMER AND GRAMMER & GRAMMER. it is soo tedious. oh well. hopefully my basics will set a good foundation for the rest of the term. it is really hard to be 'disciplined', coming from a lazy tweet like me, wishing in the world for a short cut.

TODAY, i was being nice to my geebie, and i let her out in the bathroom for a run. INSTEAD OF SHOWING ME GRATITUDE, that idiot somehow jumped high enough to reach the top of my bathtub, caught hold of my NEW FISH CARPET, and started shredding it!!!

anyhow, time for my french class soon. it is like mon wed fri 6-8pm each. QUITE tiring... hope these will help me learn french quicker and better.... cheerz!

friday at last

After a torturous week, its finally time to unwind abit. i have been dying to make my own bread, clean my room (especially after my dear Sassy is gone).. SO here are the results. It smells wonderful.. my own reciepe (kinda) of whole-wheat bread, with oat meal and a tinge of blueberry yogurt.

I finally gave my poor geebie some attention. It is so hard to get him to pose for me thou. he is SOO busy doing sprints in the bathroom. *SUCH a naughty gerbil. Still, isnt he adorable?

Here are my plants. I am trying to cultivate a sense of erm.. nature in my room.. So far, it is ok. The white with tinge of pink flowers is called the Kalanchoe plant and the one with a funny reddish brown flowers is called the Shrimp plant (for obvious reasons).

Of course, not to forget, Iman and I had a date. Went for a coffee, did some grocery shoppings (you know, 15% tax kills you) and went up a hill to enjoy the city view. It would have been much more romantic, IF ONLY it wasnt about 9 C. We were both wearing summer short sleeve stuff. *GRUMBLE. I took one picture of the night view and left. If you look closely, there is a bright white light building protruding out from the picture. That is the 1972 olympic stadium. HEE.

Okie, gota sleep. Tomorrow, i will be having my first lab review and experiment procedures. THinking are picking up. I have a gut feeling i will be really busy. I cant say i miss Singapore yet, cause i am sooo caught up with the new life here. I hardly have time to breath. However, i do wish my family is abit nearer. It will be nice to beable to visit them abit more frequently.

yawn

today is THURSDAY. i just returned from the graduate society in montreal, we had a free dinner, wine and cheese with the Deans of Mcgill. It was really nice, free food always appeals me, coupled with the nice atmosphere.

I finally got to know some graduate students, and some biomedical students in Mcgill, so i am happy. it will take time to get things rolling... You know, i am taking some classes which the teachers think i am a medical student or something, it is like way above my head. I feel L-O-S-T ...

I had my first french lesson yesterday, tomor will be my second. i have to say i am not very good at it. it seems much tougher than german. For those who dont realise, german and english are of the same languistic roots - germanic. while french, spanish, italian has evolved from the latin roots... I shall not try to embarrass myself saying something french for now.

kisses to all, and till then.

ps: i bought a new DIGITAL CAMERA, canon powershot A520. i can't wait to try it.. LET me have time... *grumble
